ACNE CLINIC
We address the acne source as well as providing deep therapy to alleviate the current aggravated condition of the skin.
In addition we have excellent results treating post acne scars.
MayStar Oil Balancing & Cleansing Facial
The Oil Balance Care facial will open up your pores for easier cleansing and comedon extraction. The treatment will help to mop up and then regulate the skin's sebum production. Natural product ingredients together with Oxygen Therapy are used to fight the acne inflamation, redness & related bacteria.
Microdermabrasion & Peels
These modalities are effective cleansing modalities. They strip dirt plugs (blackheads) out from pores via a combination of mild skin abrasion and suction. We utilize either gentler Glass Ball Percussion or stronger Crystal Microdermabrasion. The layer of skin that comes off is very fine (about 10-15 microns) but has no live cells. This is why the skin is not damaged in the process.
The wand or crystals used in microdermabrasion abrade the skin, while an Oxygenated vacuum sucks up any dead cells and dirt that clog your pores. When used on acne, micro dermabrasion needs stronger suction to unclog all of the pores, because the "abrading" cannot get in that deep on its own. And it works well.
Natural acid, AHA (fruit), glycolid, & Lactic among others peeling agents are utilized in a Peeling Mask to similarly strip away the very top layer of the epidermis for the same reasons.
Finally, Microdermabrasion and Peels are strongly effective in reducting the look & feel of post acne scars.
LED & IPL PhotoTherapy
How Can Light Treat Acne?
Our Synergica LED uses a specialized blue light to treat acne effectively. The light energy is transfered at a specific wavelength to the sebaceous gland, destroying the the bacteria within it. This gentle, natural light treatment enhances traditional medical therapies.
IPL treatments involve Intense Pulsed Light, akin to laser, but less severe. This transfer of light energy helps to clear up acne by destroying the most common bacteria that cause acne — without drugs, without pain and without downtime.
What are the treatments like?
Treatments are fast, safe and relatively painless. Our clinician treats the desired area with minimal epidermal (skin) damage. IPL Photofacial Treatments feel like a gentle rubber band snapping on the face. The time it takes to cover the average face is approximately 10-15 minutes. Downtime is virtually eliminated. You can easily have a treatment done over their lunch hour or just after school.
How long will a course of treatments take?
Every person is unique, even in the treatment of acne. The average treatment course would consist of 8 and could be up to 12 treatments done 1 -2 times per week.
Is anyone a candidate for IPL Photofacial treatment?
Most people can be treated with IPL treatments, however there are a few specific cases where treatments are not advised. Individuals who are photosensitive or are on photosensitizing medications should not undergo IPL therapy. People who have been on Accutane need to be off the medication for 6 months prior to IPL treatments. For that matter, we encourage you to speak to us BEFORE agreeing to any Accutane treatments. Pregnant women should wait until after their pregnancy to have the treatments.
What are the risks?
Advances in technology allow clinicians to treat affected areas to the body with little or no damage to the surrounding skin. Side effects are rare but may include hypo/ hyperpigmentation, blistering, redness & scarring. Sun exposure affects the rate of complications. Therefore It is imperative that individuals minimize their sun exposure for 4 weeks prior to and following treatments.
What are the costs?
A comprehensive treatment starts at: $150.00 per session (prepaid package of 8-12 sessions is 15% off)
